I'm back to writing and have nearly finished a chapter on the Royal Diorama of Scotland which showcased Thomas Dudgeon's landscape painting skills as well, but unfortunately those scenes couldn't be sold. I bought them from a dealer in Georgia, USA, but he bought them from a dealer in England. I live in the United States as well, but am enamored with Scottish and English paintings since my husband and I visited Scotland and England twice. Both paintings are both original and after looking them over, they have been cleaned before, and relined, but still contain the original hand forged nails. I don't think the paintings have ever been on the market until just now, as there is no record of them being auctioned online, like his others, but one of them does match a prior auctioned painting named, "A Pleasant Conversation" painted in 1865.

I hope you can add more information about him! I really enjoyed reading your site. You've put so much thought and heart into your GG Grandfather's life!! I'm sure that he would be proud!

with warm regards,
Marycreativedolanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08304781316385025102noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487766602161649003.post-77567949739444044062018-02-28T15:21:49.450+10:002018-02-28T15:21:49.450+10:00Hello Mary, It's so nice to hear from you and ...Hello Mary, It's so nice to hear from you and that you found my story about my great great grandfather. We tried to view some of his original work many years ago at the Glasgow gallery but were unable to as they were moving. I also hope that one day I will be able to afford to buy one of his paintings. I am so happy that his work continues to be appreciated. I would love a copy of the painting
if you would like to email it to me. Please email it to:
neil_mcnee@hotmail.com
By the way, what country do you live in Mary? I am in Australia. I hope to be able to add more to Thomas's story in the near future as we have lots of information. We haven't been able to this past year.

Many thanks again

Pauline McNee
Happy Retiree's Kitchenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10614074474795791475noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4487766602161649003.post-12203014573937751942018-02-27T12:07:58.294+10:002018-02-27T12:07:58.294+10:00Hello, I just wanted to thank you for writing this...Hello, I just wanted to thank you for writing this post! It brought tears to my eyes, as I just recently purchased a painting of your great great grandfathers. The painting is of Loch Lomond and Ben Lomond painted in 1878 right in this area where you said he grew up. It even has those beautiful purple flowers in it that you show in your top photo. Goes to show that the area hasn’t changed much. Your Great Great grandfather was very talented. If you’d like a copy of the painting then please let me know and I’d be more than happy to email you the image.
With warm regards, Marycreativedolanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08304781316385025102noreply@blogger.com
